New Delhi: In some respite to India's cheapest smartphone makers, the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted interim relief to Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd - the Noida-based firm that created a global buzz after announcing the launch of the controversial Rs 251 Freedom 251 smartphone last month. While hearing the plea, the division bench of Justice BK Narayan and justice Shashi Kant ordered the UP state government to furnish a status report on an urgent basis by April 5, further directing that no coercive steps be taken till then against the three top accused - directors Mohit Goel and Dharna Garg and president Ashok Chadha. Relax as De La Rue, a Britain-based commercial banknote printer and passport manufacturer, is working on a technology that can store “paperless passports” in smartphones. The technology would allow travellers to do without the booklets and switch to “paperless passports” that would act similar to mobile boarding cards enabling a tourist to travel through an airport without documents of any kind, media reported. “Paperless passports are one of many initiatives that we are currently looking at, but at the moment it is a concept that is at the very early stages of development,” a spokesman of the company was quoted as saying. Naked clerk attempts to molest girl student in China

Beijing: A mentally unstable clerk at a middle school in southern China attempted to molest a girl student in public while fully naked, forcing authorities to send him to a mental hospital for treatment. Huo, 30, who is a lab administrator in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jumped at a female student, fully naked, on campus yesterday and harassed her, Shanghai Daily quoted a provincial official as saying. She was rescued after some teachers intervened, the paper reported. The girl was not injured in the incident. The school said Huo was diagnosed of periodic mental disorders in 2011. During his treatment, doctors said he could be considered mentally stable if the symptoms did not reappear in the following two years. The school had allowed him to work at the lab room as Huo had shown no abnormal condition in the following five years until yesterday's incident. Noida based company Ringing Bells, which has claimed manufacturing the world's cheapest smartphone Freedom 251 for just Rs 251, as Noida police has registered an FIR against the company for cheating its customers. The FIR was filed based on the complaint lodged by BJP MP Kirit Somaiya. In his complaint MP from Mumbai North-East had alleged that it is a 'ponzi bogus company scam' and urged the Noida police to freeze the firm's account to protect gullible buyers. Terming the company's ambitious project a scam, Somaiya said he had gone through all the papers of the company. The Centre has informed the Uttar Pradesh government to check the bonafide of the promoter.
